Greetings parents! The main focus of Core French at the Kindergarten level is to have the students enjoy French while gaining some basic proficiency with letters, numbers, words, and phrases.

In Mrs. Kurita's class, this is what we will focus on each week:

Week of June 23 - 27: Mini puppet show starring each student.

Week of June 16 - 20: Present "Frère Jacques" and "Olivier et Noisette" to parents. Learn some words for favourite foods.

Week of June 9 - 13: Prepare "Frère Jacques" and "Olivier et Noisette" for parents next week.

Week of June 2 - 6: Continue to work on "Frère Jacques" as a round. Individual work on mini puppet show "Olivier et Noisette".

Week of May 26 - 30: Work on "Frère Jacques" as a round. Mini puppet show "Olivier et Noisette".

Week of May 20 - 23: Warm up with songs, calendar and days of the week. Mini puppet show "Clo-Clo et Tigrou".

Week of May 12 - 16: Warm up with songs, calendar, and days of the week. Continue shared reading of "Je joue avec les rimes".

Week of May 5 - 9: Warm up with songs, days of the week, and counting backwards. Shared reading of story "Je joue avec les rimes".

Week of April 28 - May 2: Warm up with songs. Students present their drawing of an animal.

Week of April 22 - 25: Warm up with songs, calendar, and days of the week. Drawing an animal.

Week of April 14 - 17: Warm up with songs, calendar, and days of the week. Shared reading of story "Je dessine des animaux".

Week of April 7 - 11: Warm up with songs. Students continue to present "Ma famille". Shared reading of story "Je dessine des animaux".

Week of March 31 - April 4: Warm up with songs. Students present "Ma famille". Shared reading of story "Ma famille".

Week of March 24 - 28: Warm up with songs, calendar and days of the week. Shared reading of story "Ma famille".

Week of March 17 - 21: Warm up with songs, calendar and days of the week. Continue to link letters and sounds to known words.

Week of March 3 - 6: Warm up with songs. Reminders of names of animals and clothes. Linking letters and sounds to known words.

Week of February 24 - 28: Warm up with songs, days of the week, and counting on the calendar. Continue to work on letters and sounds.

Week of February 18 - 21: Warm up with songs, days of the week, and counting on the calendar. Work on letters and sounds.

Week of February 10 - 14: Warm up with songs and days of the week. Continue work with shapes and reminders of animal names and names of articles of clothing.

Week of February 3 - 7: Songs as warm-up. Work on names of shapes.

week of January 27 - 31: Warm-up with songs/days of the week. Work on individual number recognition and counting backwards.

Week of January 20 - 24: Days of the week as warm-up. Continue work on numbers and winter clothes.

Week of January 13 - 17: Songs as warm-up. Days of the week. Counting backwards from 10.

Week of January 6 - 10: Songs as warm-up. Learn names of winter clothes (bottes, mitaines, chapeaux,...)

Week of December 16 - 19: Work on song and actions for "Vive le vent" (Jingle Bells). Talk about Holiday/winter words.

Week of December 9 - 13: Songs as warm-up. Colouring activity/knowing names of colours.

Week of December 2 - 6: Songs as warm-up. Continuing to work on colours, numbers, and animals.

Week of November 25 - 29: Songs as warm-up. Work on knowing colours and answering in a simple sentence "C'est rouge./C'est bleu./C'est noir."

Week of November 18 - 22: Songs as warm-up. Work on days of the week.

Week of November 11 - 14: Singing songs. Work on "Qu'est-ce que c'est?" (What is it?) animals.

Week of November 4 - 8: Continuing to sing songs. Work on number recognition, especially 10 - 20.

Week of October 28 - November 1: Singing songs they have already learned. Learned names in French of their costumes. Reminders of colours and numbers 1 - 5.

Week of October 21 - 25: Learn song "La ferme à Mathurin" (French version of "Old MacDonald") and names of farm animals

Week of October 15 - 18: Some Thanksgiving vocabulary (dinde, tarte, voyager, vacance, voyager) and work on numbers 11 - 20

Week of October 7 - 10: Learn song "Tête, épaules, genoux, orteils". Learn names of family members (maman, papa, frère, soeur, ...)

Week of September 30 - October 4: Singing songs we have learned. Work on recognition of individual numbers 1 - 10

Week of September 23 - 27: Learn song "Le clown Samuel". Work on alphabet in French.

Week of September 16 - 20: learn song "Bonjour les amis...". Continue with work on colours. Work on numbers 1 - 10.

Week of September 9 - 13: work on song "Frère Jacques". Learn names of colours. Learn names of first few numbers.
